Counselling Service

Aims and commitment

We are committed to providing the maximum support, encouragement and development of individuals at all levels within organisations.

Our counselling service aimed to achieve this and it is aimed, in particular, at helping people with the following needs:

  • Anger Managementsingle_001
  • Stress Management
  • Handling Conflict
  • Assertive Behaviour
  • Bereavement Counselling
  • Other personal issues

The aim of counselling is to provide the employee as the client, and the employer as the referring agency, with the opportunity to optimise workplace performance.

Responsibilities

We recognise that it is a responsible step by an employer to offer an employee counselling.  The counselling process acknowledges that such an investment in the employee should be respected.  This will mean that in addition to the counsellor making every effort to provide high standards of professional help, the counsellee should also be expected to engage responsibly in the change process.

An initial assessment of an individual will take place which should last no more than 1.5 hours.  This will take place in an agreed private location and without interruption.

Following the initial assessment, if appropriate the counsellor will recommend any further sessions which seem necessary to help the individual which will require agreement by the employer.

confidential_counsellingConfidentiality

Total confidentiality between the counsellor and the counsellee is non-negotiable.

There will be no reporting back to the employing organisation for it to be seen that counselling is benefiting the counsellee.  Any measure of success will be reflected in the resolution of, or improvement in, outstanding issues relevant to work performance.  This should be monitored internally by line managers as with any other employee.

It must be understood that counselling is never a guarantee of change in the counsellee.  Responsibility for change in any aspect of life, including workplace behaviours fall to the employee.   Consequently, whilst every endeavour would be made to assist any employee referred, counselling cannot make the counsellee change, unless they are prepared to take the responsibility for this.

Details of fees are available upon request.  Please contact Jackie Bullivant for further details.
